The answer: a lot, but some work while others don’t. The level of success ultimately depends on your particular smoking situation. Just because one method wasn’t effective for you doesn’t mean it’s no good. It simply means it wasn’t suitable for you.

Stop Smoking With Hypnosis Now

Many try four to five times and several ways before finally being able to kick the habit successfully. Some take more attempts to succeed. The rare ones are able to stop on the first try, but that seldom happens. For those who feel they’ve tried everything to quit smoking, have you considered hypnotherapy? You might be able to quit smoking with hypnosis.

Stop smoking hypnosis works through the power of suggestion. It’s largely responsible for the success of this stop smoking therapy. Believing it will work makes the process work. Some “mind over matter” action going on here. Studies also back up the effectiveness of hypnosis on smoking cessation so there’s really nothing to lose in trying out stop smoking hypnosis.

The subconscious is extremely powerful. It stores all the addictions and habits of a person. However, not everybody’s subconscious mind is able to resist or deny the addictions. For instance, there’s evidence pointing to addiction running in the family while alcoholism doesn’t. This is something worth thinking about when pondering thoughts of undergoing hypnosis to quit smoking.

There are seminars that you can attend with a group of individuals who complete the stop smoking therapy together. You can also schedule an appointment with people who employ hypnosis to quit smoking for smokers. People have had tremendous success using stop smoking hypnosis.

Those living in small, remote towns might have a hard time locating someone to help. In such cases, consider approaching doctors for advice on how to proceed. They might know somebody involved in the same field and give you a recommendation.

Turning to hypnosis to quit smoking calls for enormous amounts of patience and willingness to follow the instructions of the hypnotist. Some worry about the whole hypnosis process because they think someone will be controlling their minds. It’s an understandable concern. If you harbor the same feelings, better bring friends or family with you when you attend a one-on-one meet. Otherwise, feel free to join a big seminar designed for helping entire audiences using hypnosis as stop smoking therapy. Pick what you feel fits you best.

To quit smoking with hypnosis, the hypnotist gives the person’s subconscious suggestions on you not wanting to smoke, the reasons you wish to stop, plus several alternatives regarding what to do in case the urge to light one up consumes you. Sometimes the brain is “reprogrammed” so cigarettes start becoming disgusting to you – from the sight to the smell of them.

Most people never smoke another cigarette again following hypnosis for their addiction. If you’re really serious about saying goodbye to smoking, consider hypnotherapy. It’s been hugely successful in converting smokers into happy, non-smokers.

A lot of people find that it just takes a session or two with a pro and a good stop smoking CD to do the trick. Addressing the problem through self-regulation and outside help will increase the chance that you will permanently modify your behavior, and thereby permanently improve your health.

NLP is one choice in hypnotherapy, but there are dozens to choose from. Feel free to explore. In order to permanently quit smoking, you may need to synthesize these different techniques.

One very popular technique is hypnosis. This therapeutic method has been in use for over a hundred years. Though the technique has a past as a fraudulent practice, it is now widely accepted as a useful tool in behavior modification. However, the physical addiction is only a part of the smoking habit. Mental adjustments are absolutely necessary to sustain long-term change.

Sub conscious suggestions are utilized in hypnosis. You can address unconscious triggers to smoke by learning triggers that encourage you to not smoke.

It will also be helpful to focus on conscious causes. To give one example, MLP addresses thoughts and ideas that we can control to address the problem. Careful analysis can yield the logical reasons that inform them.

Consider listing all the peripheral events and objects that were present when you were considering smoking. Document when and why you wanted a cigarette. Do you reach for a cigarette right after you wake up for no apparent reason? When your boss gives you an awful assignment, do you feel the urge to smoke?

When you have discovered your triggers, you can draw them into the light of conscious awareness and deal with them through conscious control. Just as in psychoanalysis, hypnosis draws thoughts and events from the subconscious level.

However, NLP departs from psychoanalysis by finding causes not in unresolved childhood experiences, but in past thinking. With effort, these old thoughts can be replaced with new thoughts that are better geared towards health.

This will be an emotional, effort-demanding process. In fact, your reason must be coupled with your feelings.

Long term success depends on being able to do this. Once you know why you smoke, you are halfway there! It is just as important to act on it.

You can redirect your attention to alternative activities.

Consider a short exercise session to relieve stress instead of a cigarette. This act will provide a double payoff. Every cigarette you refuse helps to improve your health by breaking the bad habit. Each exercise session is a positive step towards health. Substitute a piece of chocolate, fruit or bread alongside your alcohol instead of a cigarette.

Regardless of what you specifically choose, the common goal is to redirect your decision away from smoking. This is intended to prevent a smoking opportunity and to promote a healthier alternative.

Habit reformation is absolutely necessary to accomplish behavior reformation. It is not like you have been smoking since birth. You can get there again by planning your path and traveling it choice by choice.

In NLP we understand that people process information using on of three relating styles: kinesthetic, visual, and auditory. Just as it’s better to talk with a Chinese person in Chinese, in NLP we understand that we can communicate and create better rapport with people if we communicate with them in the style they prefer. Of all NLP techniques you can learn, this can be the most powerful for helping you improve your quality of life rapidly.

Generally speaking, kinesthetic oriented people respond to touch and act on how they feel. Kinesthetic people like to engage in affectionate rough housing, as well as being held for long periods of time.

When talking with kinesthetic persons you’ll hear terms such as these in your conversations:

“I just felt as if…”
“I’ll handle it.”
“I feel like we really connected.”
“Take it easy.”

Physical contact and feelings are their primary love language. Kinesthetic people often feel overwhelmed or feel picked on in a verbal conflict.

When communicating with a kinesthetic oriented person, a soft touch on the arm means you care, you’re interested, and you’re listening. Often the kinesthetic person will touch you as they are speaking as well.

In the work field, a handshake is often offered and expected by a kinesthetic person. Not only is a handshake proper and a sign of respect to the kinesthetic person, but it is also a personal connection. In addition, they may put their arm around your shoulders while walking and talking. This is how they communicate and connect.

Kinesthetic people can be hard to motivate, however, because they often can’t get past how they’re feeling in the moment. They are very emotionally driven and often let their emotions control their actions. Kinesthetic oriented persons also react to gut instincts and tend not to base decisions on reason or logic.

Kinesthetic Relating in Love Relationships

In a relationship with a kinesthetic oriented person, if you don’t touch them often, they may not feel loved by you. They may feel rejected and not even know why.

If your loved one is saying things like, “You never touch me,” or “You never cuddle with me anymore,” their love tank may be empty. Fill it up with some meaningful and long snuggles on the couch, a big bear hug or a nice back massage. Then keep their hearts filled by giving them the touching, hugging, and snuggling they are thirsting for.

There are three identified styles of relating and auditory relating is one of these. The other two are visual and kinesthetic.

Just as it’s better to talk with a Chinese person in Chinese, in NLP we understand that we can communicate and create better rapport with people if we communicate with them in the style they prefer. Of all NLP techniques you can learn, this can be the most powerful for helping you improve your quality of life rapidly. The auditory relating style refers to those people who respond to and are stimulated by what they hear.

Auditory persons learn more effectively by hearing rather than by seeing. Using audio, as well as reading aloud, is a great way to teach the auditory oriented person.

The auditory oriented person best responds to expressions of love in the form of words of affirmation and compliments. The best gifts for an auditory person are:

Music
Audio books
Concerts
Anything that involves the use of their hearing sense

Auditory Relating in Relationships

The auditory person loves the sound of their voice! He can sit and chat for hours and he feels loved when this happens.

Auditory people are sensitive to another’s tone of voice and can be easily offended when given criticism or correction. Therefore, using softer tones and beginning criticism or correction with positive affirmations is the best way to communicate with auditory people.

Auditory Relating and Conflict

An auditory person processes issues by talking things through; unless it’s something big, then they usually prefer quiet time. In addition, the auditory person likes to have the last word and usually gets it. Plus, they tend to be good at debating and getting others to talk as well.

Auditory persons are sensitive to the sounds of nature and often find peace when walking through the woods, by a crackling fire or strolling by a running river. Add these types of activities to a great conversation and you’re speaking their love language.

The easiest way to identify an auditory oriented person is by listening to their expressions. They often use phrases like:

“Hear me out.”
“Listen to what I’m saying.”
“I didn’t hear that clearly.”
“We need to talk.”
“I can tell by your tone…”

Neuro Linguistic Programming Techniques to Use for Building rapport with an Auditory Oriented Person

If your boss is an auditory oriented person, she’ll expect you to communicate through face to face, or telephone meetings, instead of email or memos. She may even find email or memos to be offensive or less meaningful than a phone call or meeting.

Another excellent technique you can use is if you need to address a problem or issue, begin the conversation with positive affirmations about what you like about a person or the project before you get into the issue. This will open up and build rapport the auditory oriented person who will then be more open to receiving your ideas. This is an excellent method to lowering walls before they go up.

When practicing NLP we listen to how people breathe because breathing is something that both kinesthetic and auditory processors pay a great deal of attention to. If an auditory oriented person hears sighs and grunts they often translate these noises as if something’s wrong. For example, if you’re a heavy sigh-er, you may often be asked, “What’s wrong?” every time you take a deep breath. The best thing you can do is communicate to the sensitive person that nothing’s wrong. This will allow them to adjust to your breathing sounds.

Building Rapport with an Auditory Type Person

Once you’ve learned how to identify an auditory person, relating to them will be easier. Here are the main things to remember once you’ve determined you’re dealing with a person who relates via sound:

Be sensitive when speaking.
Use appropriate tones of voice.
Begin criticism or correction with positive affirmations.

In addition, auditory processors like to hear compliments and the words “I love you” repeatedly. The auditory person never tires of hearing these things. In fact, if you don’t compliment them or say “I love you” often enough, the auditory person may begin to feel unloved.

If you’re in a marriage with an auditory type person and they are constantly saying, “You don’t love me” or “You never say you love me,” you’re not speaking their love language. To help with communication and make them feel loved speak adorning words more frequently. Using this method of creating rapport to better connect with auditory lovers will greatly improve the quality of your love life.

Like I mentioned before, this is one of the best NLP techniques you can master to quickly improve the quality of your life. Communication is a lot easier when we know and understand our loved ones relating style, whether it is auditory, visual or kinesthetic. Now that you can identify an auditory oriented person, you will be able to express your love for them easier and relate to them using their love language.

The other two are auditory and kinesthetic. Just as it’s better to talk with a Chinese person in Chinese, in NLP we understand that we can communicate and create better rapport with people if we communicate with them in the style they prefer. Of all NLP techniques you can learn, this can be the most powerful for helping you improve your quality of life rapidly. Visual relating refers to those persons who are “visual” in their thinking.

Understanding how a visual person thinks and “sees” the world will help you be able to quickly develop rapport and communicate more effectively when interacting with visual processors in your relationships.

Visual oriented people often use expressions such as:

“I see.”
“It seems clear.”
“Do you see my point?
“I can see right through you.”

They also tend to be more uptight, high-strung, and very detail oriented. The visual oriented person will often get lost in thoughts and daydreams.

Some examples of gifts and appreciated expressions of love for visually oriented people are:

Flowers
Games
Books
Framed Photos
Cards and Letters

When talking with a visually oriented person, using vivid words is the best way to communicate with them. Try to draw a picture with your words, using lots of detail. This will allow you to be able to more closely identify with those who are more visually oriented.

Body Language

A visual person will also pay close attention to your body language. They’ll notice your eye movements, hand gestures, posture and facial expressions and will read into those things to determine if they trust what you’re saying or not. Words themselves probably won’t make much difference, but your body language and actions says it all to the visually oriented person.

Since visually oriented persons rely on their visual perception so much, they may tend to judge a book by its cover, so to speak. The way one dresses or the car a person drives will say a lot to the visually oriented person.

Visual people may also be uneasy around people who build up a facade because they can’t see the real person inside or behind the mask.

Neuro Linguistic Programming Techniques to Use for Building rapport with a Visually Oriented Person

When speaking to the visually oriented, look directly into their eyes and use positive body language. In other words, keep you arms uncrossed and focus on what they are saying. This will communicate to them that you’re attention is on them and that you are really paying attention. Another way to communicate positively is to nod your head, as if saying yes while they are speaking. This shows that you’re actively listening and that you’re interested in what they’re saying.

On the other hand, when you’re having a conversation with a visually oriented person, you may feel as if you’re being examined because their eyes will move around, observing all the details of your hair, teeth, clothing and jewelry. They may even stop you in conversation to give you a compliment about what you’re wearing or the way you’re hair is styled.

If your boss is visual-oriented, an organized office or workspace is probably very important to him or her. Therefore, it’s important for you to keep your workspace neat and orderly to avoid conflict. They may also be very picky about dress and expect their employees to dress professionally at all times.

Understanding Visually Oriented People

The visual person tends to like video games, computers, and television. Often they’re artistic, crafty, and creative thinkers. They tend to be able to visualize the outcome of a decision and may tend to over analyze situations.

When building relationships, determining a person’s relating style is probably the first thing you should do so you can understand where they’re coming from and how they will respond. This is one of the best uses of NLP techniques for making your everyday life even better.

Now that you’re equipped with the knowledge of how a visual person communicates, you will be able to strengthen your relationships both personally and professionally.

One is that hypnosis puts a person’s mind in to a hyper-attentive state where it becomes very open to suggestion. This makes it so a person in this state does things that they wouldn’t normally do, and is one of the reasons why hypnosis stage shows are so popular as the guests are told to do strange and bizarre things. But that’s not really true. Hypnosis can’t make you do things you don’t want to do.

But hypnosis can be a powerful ally in your weight loss program. Most people know that the three key factors to losing weight are to eat healthy food, to eat smaller portions and to take regular exercise. Some of us try crash diets and for several weeks, restricting our calorie intake. This can make it appear like you’re losing a lot of weight. Unfortunately not only is this an unhealthy way to lose weight (because you are mostly losing muscle mass rather than fat) it also causes a yo-yo effect where gradually you go back to your old eating habits and end up even bigger than you were before.

These are derived from the ways by which hypnosis is performed. The first is hetero-hypnosis. This is where a hypnotist induces a state of being in trance to the subject to help them become open to suggestions. The second is auto-hypnosis where the hypnotic state is self-induced.

Around 1841, Scottish surgeon James Braid coined by the term “Neuro-hypnotism” which is derived from the term nervous sleep. The actual word hypnosis is derived from the Greek word hypnos meaning sleep. This was because of the misconception that a person in hypnosis was actually sleeping.

Contrary to the original theory that hypnosis is a form of unconsciousness resembling sleep, contemporary research suggests that it is actually a wakeful state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, with diminished peripheral awareness. Today hypnotism is generally presumed to make a person go into a state of reduced consciousness while remaining awake. While in a hypnotic trance most subjects are extremely open to positive suggestions while achieving a high level of relaxation.

If we follow this definition of hypnosis, that of being in a trance-like state, or intensely focusing on a particular activity or subject and tuning out almost everything else internally, we can say that we all experience a level of hypnosis everyday. Let’s look at some examples.

Have you ever been so engrossed in a movie or a book that when another person walked into the room and called your name you either didn’t notice them or want to notice them? Of course, we all have. That’s a form of hypnosis. Reading, writing, closely listening to your favorite music are all examples of activities that can put you into a light trance. In this trace you alter your attention in a way that helps you become extremely attentive to whatever it is you are doing at the moment. During this process you unconsciously shut off any outside subjects that are vying for your attention. That’s one example of how hypnosis works.

Another example is when you become so engrossed in the imaginary world of a daydream or a chapter of a book that your emotions take over. You hear a song and cry, as the villain gets near the hero’s hiding place you feel fear, or you may even scream over a particularly frightening scene. This is an excellent example of how hypnosis works in your imagination regularly in your life.

Daydreaming is another activity that is often likened to hypnotism. This is when a person is oblivious to his or her surroundings yet experiencing a state of heightened imagination.

These types of incidents are referred to as auto or self-hypnosis. This trait is so common and so human that Milton Erickson, the “grandfather” of hypnosis studies in the United States, concluded that people hypnotize themselves on a daily basis.

This kind of “everyday trance” is different from the trance brought about by deep hypnosis. It is comparable to that relaxed mental state you feel between wakefulness and sleep, similar to right before you fall asleep or right before you wake up.

When a subject is experiencing hypnosis with the aid of a hypnotist they often respond in an uncritical, automatic fashion. The subject ignores certain aspects of the environment such as a car alarm blaring in the background. In addition, a subject’s memory and awareness of self may be altered by hypnotic suggestions.

The effects of the suggestions may also be extended post-hypnotically into the subject’s subsequent waking activity. That’s really how a person knows if hypnosis works for them, by any behavioral change experienced after the session. Any suggestion that is carried out after being in a hypnotic trace is known as a post-hypnotic suggestion.

If a person is experiencing self hypnosis they feel relaxed and very open. This can be experienced in certain types of physical training, such as the martial arts or while buried in a book or engrossed in a movie. In this state concerns about the “real world” are forgotten, at least temporarily, while heightened attention is focused on the tasks at hand.

One proven limitation of hypnotism is, even while in a trance, a person’s common sense, principles, beliefs and life convictions remain unchanged throughout and after the experience. For example, hypnotism cannot make a devout Muslim or Jew eat pork or a make a devout Christian woman perform a strip tease. This is definitely not how hypnosis works. The subject’s mind is still fully alert. The only difference between their “normal” state and their state in a trance is that their subconscious is more open to suggestions. A person’s sense of safety is always on guard and his or her sensibilities will continue to govern their decision-making processes. So no hypnotic suggestion can make a person jump out of a window or anything else that would endanger their safety.

Another limitation is that no one can be hypnotized against his or her will. A hypnotist can not go up to a bank teller and suddenly have her give him “all her money”. This is simply not how hypnosis works. For hypnosis to be affective the subject’s mind has to be willingly and consciously open to be affected by the hypnotist’s suggestions.

The success of the hypnotist depends on the subject’s personality, attention span and mental status at the moment. Interestingly, while rationally it seems that someone with high intelligence cannot be easily hypnotized, in fact it is just the opposite. This is because intelligent people usually have the best imaginations, which is the use of visual or sensory representations.

When it comes right down to it, hypnosis is a natural occurring state that happens to you and everyone on a regular basis. There’s no special training needed but you can get quicker results by learning certain techniques. If you would like to make some significant changes in your life then why not use this tool? I know from personal and professional experience that hypnosis really does work. Start putting it to use to build a better life today.

If you are having trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep, you probably are more than a little sick of being irritable, tired of feeling sleepy all the time, and too exhausted to think straight. If this is happening to you it can seem too difficult to find a solution on your own.

Over time your anxiety about not sleeping will build and your difficulty sleeping can become a sleep disorder. When this happens often enough, panic can result as one single solitary night of having difficulty sleeping. This turns into a whole month of having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Then, when you wake up in the middle of the night, your anxiety about not sleeping contributes to a bigger and bigger cycle of having trouble falling back to sleep or staying asleep for more than just a short period of time.

If you are having this type of difficulty sleeping, and having anxiety about developing a sleep disorder, the first thing you need to think about is why you’re not sleeping soundly through the night. A good method to help you overcome your trouble falling asleep is by removing any exterior distractions, such as the alarm clock light glowing in your face, noise from outside traffic, or a pet that routinely crawls in and out of your bed, waking you up every couple of hours.

Self-hypnosis and NLP are methods that can help you calm your subconscious mind and relax. They can help you to let all the worries and cares of your day just float away. They are also forms of relaxation that allows your subconscious mind to focus on finding answers for pressing issues in your life.

Self-hypnosis and NLP can help you heighten your learning ability, improve your memory, and sharpen your alertness for an exam week or for an important presentation at work. It is an excellent method of dealing with and overcoming stress. It can help you decompress and clear the clutter from your mind after a full schedule.

Self-hypnosis and NLP allows you to stop your mind’s wanderings, breathe deeply and regain your focus. With our multi-tasking, short-attention-span culture, staying still and doing nothing can seem like a task unto itself. But once you begin practicing it, the results you are seeking will eventually follow.

I suggest that you use self-hypnosis and NLP regularly, even daily. It can lead to a better understanding of yourself and others. It may also change the way you lead your life, make your decisions, or handle relationships.

Self hypnosis is a powerful tool that has been used by many people. It has been used for thousands of years to help people make significant changes in their lives. For example, Thomas Edison often put himself into deep delta hypnosis while he working. Many of his ideas and inventions came to him while using self-hypnosis. He used a special way to stay conscious. While in self hypnosis he would hold to large marble like balls in his hands. When he went too deep and fell asleep, the balls would fall and wake him up. Then he would put himself into hypnosis again and continue using his magnified focus.

You too can use self hypnosis and NLP to help you make significant lasting changes in your life. Let’s look at some simple tips to make hypnosis and NLP an effective part of your journey to success:

1. Look for a professional to give you some pointers. Self hypnosis and NLP training can be done individually or in hypnosis and/or NLP seminars. Like any other coach, a professional hypnotherapist or NLP’er can take years off of your learning curve in using these powerful tools.

2. Use hypnosis audios or audios with relaxing sounds. When relaxing, listen to self hypnosis audio recordings that guide you through the changes you wish to implement. To help you relax you can also use recordings with relaxing sounds such as those of nature.

3. Some people have found self hypnosis and NLP videos to be very helpful. If you choose to use these, pick a quiet time to watch them so you can tune everything out and focus on being present.

4. Use positive daily affirmations. You can choose a positive daily affirmation or two to repeat to yourself or even record them so you can listen to them during your self hypnosis and NLP sessions. These positive statements can be used as a form of guided meditation to speak to your subconscious mind.

Self hypnosis and NLP are neither magical nor mysterious. Theses powerful tools have helped millions of people, just like you make significant changes in their lives. They can help you too! Why not start using them today?

Recent innovations in science have been instrumental in helping us figure out what happens in our brains during a hypnosis session.

You might already know that your brain puts out different electrical signals for different mental states. These different electrical signals happen when your brain is agitated, alert, in varying stages of relaxation, or asleep. Scientists have learned which areas of the brain control which functions, and can also determine which parts of the brain are more active at any one time.

Extensive testing by these scientists on people in a hypnotic state has shown us the following:

1. While in hypnosis, a person puts out alpha, theta and delta brain wave frequencies. These are the most relaxed states and are the ones your brain goes in to right before sleep.

2. Scientists have found that in this state, the left cerebral cortex, which controls reasoning, deduction, and logic, and learned inhibitions, shows very little activity.

3. On the other hand, the right cerebral cortex, which controls imagination and creativity, shows heightened activity and electrical impulses. Scientist have also found that as you go deeper into these relaxed states you can more effectively enter into your subconscious.

These tests corroborate with scientific methods that during hypnosis you can virtually bypass the limiting beliefs of your conscious mind to relay our desired ideas and behaviors directly to your subconscious mind.

Once your subconscious mind accepts these new ideas, it can then direct your thoughts and actions to conform to the new data, attitudes, or beliefs. This means that using hypnosis you can literally program your mind for success!
